Marcy is a pianist and teacher with over 10 years experience teaching and performing piano. She teaches beginner to advanced diploma level students from her studio with a grand piano. Her goal is to see every student achieve their best in piano and music as a whole, giving personalised attention to their needs to develop confidence, solid technique, and creativity.
In addition to teaching for exams, she ensures students have a solid foundation in technique, theory and aural skills, and having freedom in improvisation. She strives to further her knowledge by keeping up to date with modern teaching methods, materials, and new music.
While she has specialised in and studied western classical music, she can teach a wide variety of styles from contemporary to blues. Marcy has directed, arranged, premiered, and performed music at venues around Sydney, as well as writing for and playing electric bass in local bands. She has significant ensemble experience playing for exams and recitals, especially AMEB and HSC exams, performing anything from Baroque to modern music.
