About Marcy

Marcy (BMus) is a classically trained professional pianist offering piano lessons, accompaniment and coaching. She has taught private piano lessons since 2014 and offers lessons for all ages and skill levels.
She always keeps up to date with teaching methods including apps, online resources and method books. Marcy can teach for leisure or exams, ensuring students have a solid foundation in theory, sightreading and aural skills. She has a unique approach and uses multiple educational tools and activities to make lessons enjoyable for every student, regardless of age or experience.
Marcy's goal is to see every student achieve their best in piano, giving thorough personalised attention to their needs to develop the required musical skills.

While she is primarily a classical musician, she can teach a wide range of styles of music and music theory. Marcy has music directed, involving transcribing, arranging and performing in multiple Revues and University shows.
She has performed solo piano music at The Sydney Royal Easter Show and other local venues around Sydney, as well as being a guest speaker at the Australian Institute of Music.

The safety of all students and instrumentalists is of the utmost importance, and with that in mind, Marcy holds a current Apply First Aid Certificate, as well as a Working With Children Check.

Do you teach lessons over Skype?

I do not teach lessons over Skype. Lessons are not effective without a teacher being present in the same room.

What exams do you teach?

I teach primarily AMEB Piano or AMEB Piano for Leisure up to AMusA, but can also teach ABRSM and Trinity.

Do you offer group lessons?

I do not teach group lessons, one-on-one lessons are the best way to learn music at a student's own pace.

What lesson length do I need?

30 minute lessons are enough for children and young beginners, 45+ minutes are recommended for adult beginners and 60 minutes are recommended for any students sitting exams or at an intermediate level.

Do I need a piano at home?

You need an instrument to practice on. Acoustic pianos are recommended but weighted keyboards work up to an intermediate level.

Do you teach adults?

Absolutely! Adults of any level are welcome.

What's the youngest student you will teach?

I teach students starting from 4 years old, provided they understand basic letters and numbers.

Where do you teach?

I teach students from my studio in Glebe, easily accessible from public transport and close to Sydney CBD.
